- What is Tanga?
Tanga is the Swahili word for sail. The material is made out of natural cotton and is used as the traditional sailcloth on dhows.
- Do you have a shop where I can see your items?
Yes, we have a shop in Lamu. We also have several retailers worldwide who stock our products that you can visit. You can check them out see www.alilamu.com/retailers
- What is the best way to contact you?

- Do you deliver worldwide
Yes, we can deliver to your doorstep.
- How long do your orders take?
Your order will be processed within two business days after receiving your payment, however, the final product will depend on the order size. Each product may at least take 2 weeks to produce but delivery period ranges with each destination from 2 weeks to one month.
- Why can’t I see if your item is in stock or not?
All our products are made to order, so nothing is featured as being out of stock. Each new product may take a minimum of two weeks to process depending on the size of the order and the nature of the product.
- Are your products identical to the website images
No. Since all our products are handmade and many are made from recycled items, no two products can look identical. We however strive to provide images that best present the products we make.
- How can I get updates on your new stock, offers and new retailers?
You can subscribe to our newsletter to get any updates on new products or retailers. Please scroll to the bottom of the page and fill out your email and “subscribe”.
- Where does Ali Lamu deliver to?

- What payments do you accept?
All payments on the website are made through the electronic payment system. We accept PayPal, PesaPal or bank transfers. If you want to pay through bank transfer, please send us an e-mail with your request at sales(@)alilamu.com
- Can I order to collect at your store?
Yes, you can pick up your order in Lamu. Click this option when completing your order.
- Can I return or get a refund for wrong articles or damaged goods?
Ali Lamu strives to prove high-quality products. In the event you are not satisfied by one of our items, please notify us immediately at sales(@)alilamu.com. Depending on the nature of the issue with 14 days of receiving it, we can issue you a replacement, refund or credit. You may send us back the item at your own expense and it must be returned in the same condition as received.
If the items is damaged by the postal services, please notify us within 5 business days at sales(@)alilamu.com and send us pictures of the damaged item so that we can lodge a complaint with the shipment company.
- Are Taxes included in your sales price?
All prices include VAT in Kenya and are exclusive of shipping costs. If you order outside Kenya, you are responsible for any importation tax due if any. It is the responsibility of the client to be informed of any importation duties. Ali Lamu does not take any responsibility for any extra charges due.
